Matrixyl™
Matrixyl™ (also known as Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-3) is a breakthrough ingredient from France, shown to significantly decrease the visible appearance of wrinkles. This ingredient consists of several naturally-derived amino acids which exerts its effect on wrinkles by stimulating collagen production.
The scientific studies which follow were based on a Matrixyl™ concentration of 3%, the same as that used in Pronutrex Advance wrinkle Cream.

One six-month, double blind study on 35 women aged 34 to 72, revealed that Matrixyl™ reduced the appearance of wrinkles up to 68%. It left no doubt to the researchers that those who used Matrixyl™ throughout the study experienced dramatic results. The study also showed that the longer they used it, the better they looked.

Additional news of Matrixyl™’s statling benefits was presented at the 20th World Congress of Dermatology in 2002. Results were presented from several different studies testing the effects of the topical cream over an extended period of time.

One study presented at the 20th World Congress of Dermatology tested Matrixyl™ on 49 women with photodamaged (sun-damaged) skin. This time, researchers paid specific attention to Matrixyl™’s effects on the structure of collagen and elastin in the skin. Over a four-month period, the women who used Matrixyl™ had substantial improvements in wrinkle volume and skin texture. Furthermore, the amino acid triggered an increase in elastin and collagen levels in the women and enhanced the structure of the proteins as well. Researchers called it “a safe and potent alternative…in wrinkle repair” (Stein 2002a).

The most extensive of these studies presented at the world congress, however, came from Procter & Gamble Company. For 14 weeks, Matrixyl™ was tested in a randomized, double-blind, split-face study on 92 women ages 35 to 55 years. The women, who suffered from moderate to severe photodamaged skin, applied Matrixyl™ to one side of their faces and a standard cream to the other. They did this twice a day; the effects were measured every four weeks during the study. Results showed that the application of Matrixyl™ cream had significantly positive effects on facial lines and texture at every time interval. In addition, the women reported substantial satisfaction with the Matrixyl™ cream in self-assessment surveys (Stein 2002b).

Argireline®
Argireline® (also known as acetyl hexapeptite-3) is a trademarked ingredient from Spain, which has clinically been shown to relax expression lines when used at a concentration of 10%. Controlled studies have demonstrated that Argireline® reduces facial wrinkle depth, particularly around the forehead and eyes. In clinical tests, Argireline® has proven to show a 27% reduction of depth of wrinkles after only 30 days and a 17% reduction of wrinkles around the eyes after only 15 days of treatment.

Dr. Graf, an assistant clinical professor at the New York University Medical Centre credits the wrinkle reduction to a relaxation of the facial muscles. This action may be compared directly to facial injections, although more gradual.
